So you wanna be a contenda?
The expedition is open to enthusiastic adventurers who share a deep respect for the environment of the wilderness. Before you apply there are just a couple of realities to consider:
- Of the 56 days of travel over land about 35 days will be spent-
- sleeping on the ground (or hammock if you prefer)
- without the comforts of indoor plumbing
- Mongolia is high, dry, and cold and exhibits all the characteristics of an extreme continental climate:
- Weather conditions may vary in extremes daily
- Average high in autumn: 17°C (62°F)
- Average low in autumn : -1°C (30°F)
- The team will be cycling through the Altai region just before the Siberian winter sets in but we can still expect some precipitation and low temps in the neighborhood of -6°C (21°F)
